Sam's "Friends"

There are a few toys Sam seems to enjoy more than others.  You've already seen the video of him on his jungle mat with the orange monkey; here are two more of his favorites, the squirrel and the owl on his swing.

Latest Stats

Last week, we went back to the doctor for Sam's 2 month check up.  We were so pleased to learn that he's now 9 pounds!  Although that's only in the 5th percentile, the doctor was happy with his growth, and we're praying it continues at the same rate.  He's now 22 inches long, which is in the 25th percentile, so we have a long, skinny boy.  At the same doctor's appointment, he got 3 vaccines, which he handled bravely.  They made him a little fussy and feverish for the rest of the day, but he seems to be back to our normal happy boy now.

In other news, he has gotten better at batting at toys and faces with his hands and often smiles to himself while he's looking around.  He especially enjoys the animals on his swing and his jungle mat and will sometimes study them for 10-15 minutes at a time, smiling and batting at the them.  Everywhere we go, people comment on what a content, pleasant baby he is, and we're happy to agree!

2 Months Old! (video)

Sam is now 2 months old. It's hard to believe, but our tiny infant has turned into a real baby.  He's even less yellow!  This month, Sam started holding his head up when he's on someone's shoulder, and he can turn his head from side to side when he's on his tummy.  He loves the bath and singing songs - Itsy, Bitsy Spider is a favorite this week - and is sleeping sometimes 5-6 hours at a stretch.  His smiles are more frequent and predictable now, and he LOVES being outside.  Walks are one of his favorite things, though they often put him to sleep.  Friends have commented how easy-going and relaxed he is, and we're thankful for his sweet nature.  Happy 2 months, buddy!

Sam smiling - March 7, 2012

Sam celebrated his 7 weeks' birthday by smiling consistently and by sleeping through the night.  He slept 10:30-5:30 and then 6:30 to 9:00.  Mom and Dad - especially Mom - were thrilled!  He continues to love baths and going outside, and his jaundice is almost gone.  At his last doctor's appointment, he weighed in at 7 pounds and 12 ounces, which is in the 10th percentile for weight.  For height and head circumference, he was in the 25th percentile.  We're thankful that he's healthy and growing!
