7 Months Old!

Sam is 7 months old!  He's clearly on the move, as I have no good pictures of him with the 7.  He's interested in everything and wants to touch it all - preferably so he can put it in his mouth.  He's not crawling yet, but he rolls easily and can turn quickly when he's on his stomach.  He often ends up in a circle of toys in which he can turn from one to another.

Eating-wise, Sam is doing great.  He eats rice cereal or oatmeal for breakfast (after nursing), sometimes with fruit mixed in to make it more palatable.  I'm working on feeding him lunch every day, but we're out and about so often at lunchtime that it's hard to fit it in.  If we're home, he'll put away 4 ounces of baby food for lunch and then another 4-6 ounces at dinner time.  He's getting better at eating puffs, although we still have to help him get them in his mouth.  He'll tolerate almost any food, but he definitely has his favorites.  Apples and pears are most popular, as is anything else sweet.  We're afraid he's inherited his mom's sweet tooth!

Sam takes 2 great naps every day and sometimes a third.  Between nursing 5 times, eating 3 times, and napping 2 or 3 times, it's a busy day, but I'm so thankful to be home for it all.  Sam gets more and more fun, and we can't wait to see what the next month holds!

Sam Jumping

Blogger won't let me post this video, so here's a link to it on YouTube.  The video just shows regular life at our house; really only grandparents would want to watch the whole thing.  Enjoy!

Avocado

I love avocado.  Whether it's guacamole or on a sandwich, salad, or even soup, I can't say no.  I expected that my child would love it too, but apparently not.

On the Move!

Sam's not crawling yet, but he knows how to get around.  Here he is rolling to get to the toys he wants.

Wake Up, Sam!

Sam would sleep all morning if I would let him.  Unfortunately (for him), we try to save some of that napping for the afternoon.  Here's a video of waking him up from his morning nap.

First Meal

Sam's first meal was at the end of May...and it's now August.  Sorry to be so slow in posting this.  Sam definitely didn't love his first meal, but he's become a great eater since.  He'll now eat rice cereal or oatmeal (like his dad!) for breakfast and a vegetable and fruit for dinner.  I'm working on fitting a lunch into our day (which is harder than it sounds between 5 nursings and 3 naps), and we're working on getting Sam to eat more textured foods.  He seems to like puffs, but he has a hard time keeping them in his mouth until they're soft enough for him to gum.  He does NOT like meat baby food - but I can't blame him.  It looks and smells pretty gross.  I'm disappointed that he HATES avocado, but I suppose that just means more guacamole for me!  Enjoy!

Video Catch Up

We have tons of videos to post, and now that we have a new computer, it's time to catch up.  So here are a few of our favorites.  The first is Sam checking out the panda cutouts that hang over his changing table.  These were a gift from Grandma and Grandpa Whalen, and Sam LOVES them.  They're a great distraction to keep him happy while he's getting his diaper changed, and sometimes it's hard to tear him away!

Here's another of our boy playing with one of his wonderful grandmas.  He's definitely having fun!

More to come...
